Thunderchild First Nation is situated in Treaty 6 territory, which is historical and sacred land of the Cree people. We honor our ancestors and uphold our traditions and values with pride and respect.
Our community traces its roots to Chief Thunderchild, a legendary leader and advocate for the rights of our people during the signing of Treaty 6 in 1879. The perseverance and strength of Chief Thunderchild continue to inspire us as we strive for self-determination, social progress, and economic prosperity.
With a population of approximately 2,600 members, Thunderchild First Nation thrives on a deep connection to our heritage and spirituality. Our traditional teachings shape our daily lives, and we take pride in passing these customs and knowledge on to future generations.
